Dan watched, fascinated, as the weapon folded in on itself again. "Thanks, Shep, and no, no... that size looked fine to me."
Then he nodded a little as she continued speaking. "I, uhm. Yeah, I can understand that. I've wanted... no, needed to go get a drink far more times since I got here six months ago than I had in the whole ten years beforehand. This place is beyond fucked-up at times. But each time, someone in this room was there to catch me." He gestured round the room as he spoke, then lifted his coffee again and drank another mouthful before continuing. "We'll do that for you too, if you want it when you need it. Doesn't matter if it's someone coming round to see you or a hand on your shoulder when you're out walking or even just a voice over the phone. I'd be happy to help, any time."
