Bethany nods. She doesn't like to let anyone know that she is "different" but she feels that now is an exception. Besides, she doesn't see Amelia as posing any significant threat.
She shifts back on the small bed, so that her back is against the wall, takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Concentrating, she focuses on the first person she thinks of, which happens to be the rude, blond guy who had threatened to kill her. She has no idea why she thinks of him but he seems as good a person to start with as any. Focusing, she tries to reach out for him but nothing happens. Frowning, she opens her eyes, confused.
Deciding to try again, she thinks of Adam and shuts her eyes again, pressing them tightly shut this time. She reaches out for him, straining to push through the nothingness, feeling as though she's learning to use her ability all over again. She shakes a little from the effort but still nothing happens. She opens her eyes again, her mouth dropping open a little in confusion and shock.
I... can't do it. I can't see anyone. It's... not working.
