The door had been a test. A test to see if her dream had been just a dream, or if it had been a premonition. If she truly was bigger than the little horse dragon. The final days of Pemberley had been spent on trying that. It had taken but hours to learn that the size was in relation to where she was. Over the spance of water between England and Scotland she'd felt the change. Felt the stretch of flesh and bone, as she flew. Felt her body stretch. Stretch until she was dwarfing the skeletal dragon beside her. Shannon felt freer than she ever had in her life. She'd enjoyed diving into the depths of Loch Ness. Helping lend rumor to the monster in its deep. Scaled castles that had sat empty. Tested the strength of her roar. What she did not try was the heat of her fire. She did not want to destroy anything that belonged to people that did not deserve to lose it. But alas, it was the last day. And she would have to work out how to shrink down to fit through the door again. So they returned to the estate that the door sat on. The sheep below bleat, frightened, as she fluttered her wings to bring her down to the ground. Her voice didn't resemble that of a woman, not to anyone that didn't know her. "Do I impress?" |
