Hugs were weird now, Miguel thought. Where Sarah was pressed against him, there was an almost-dead zone in his hearing; the hairs that let him sense vibrations and hear things were pressed flat against his body. He could hear things with the rest of his body, but not wh- no, wait. He could hear her heart-beat, or feel it, very very faintly. Cool.
Then Lyla did as she was asked, and watched as Miguel drew a very rough heart-shape on the floor. "He loves you too," she interpreted, continuing to watch as Miguel brought his arm back, and gently wrapped it a bit round Sarah. He hugged back.
