Azrael nodded. "Yeah. I've never seen anything like them before. They're like some mashup of Barney and Medusa." She would have given them a wave or said 'no offense' but Dan seemed more bothered by them than she was. A few eons ferrying dead souls had desensitized her to death. The only thing that upset her now was not being able to help them, as was her job. Without it, she felt like a failure.
"This place is very unfair to them. Whoever created this universe could learn from..." From my dad? Too much. "From other universes where the dead are allowed to move on." Not that every soul saw it as being 'allowed', especially the souls of the damned. But she wasn't the one who made that decision. Their own guilt did. She picked up her fork and began to eat her food.
