As much as Darcy wanted to scoff at the idea that he should be trusted with ordering food in a foreign country 200 years into his future, he could see that she was actually completely serious. It was very sweet of her.
The waitress eventually returned, and Darcy ordered for them - he was even so bold as to ask what 'marron' was. She didn't seem to think it an odd question, and the answer was both not what he expected and not something he wanted. She did sort of giggle at him when he then did not order it following her explanation, but it seemed more like she thought it was cute than that he was odd. She read the order back to him, and then practically bounced away.
