Rob could hear the dog barking in his dreams, sure that it was a far off memory of a happier time. It had made made him flinch slightly in surprise, bringing him half awake. And then someone had spoken his name - sweet and soft and distinctly feminine. A dog? A woman? Neither of them fitted into the setting.
He blinked awake, sure that it was a dream and he'd see another soldier calling to him after all. But it wasn't - it was a woman, and... he was sure that he knew her from somewhere.
"Aye, lass..." he confirmed his name, sitting up properly to get a better look at her. And it clicked - he'd been thinking of home, and not that island that seemed almost like a dream now. Maybe it still was a dream. "Abigail Hobbs, as I live and breathe. Is it really you?"
