Ashley hated that she put that look on his face. She was supposed to be making him happy, not hurting him. As he spoke, she put her head on his chest again. She sniffled a little and then shook her head at his suggestion.
"Right now there's nothing that can be said to fix this. She's made up her mind. Anything from here on out is going to be up to her." She cleared her throat again. Maybe she would email in a few days, after she had time to calm down.
"It doesn't feel like it's just bad timing." She closed her eyes and held onto him a little tighter.
