"So she decides to just throw me away instead of trying to keep from losing me?" Ashley shook her head. "That doesn't make any sense at all." She wiped at her eyes and sniffled again. "She's acting like she's the only person that lost someone." She couldn't stay seated anymore. Ashley got up and started pacing.
"What exactly is she expecting me to do? Just be miserable for the rest of my life? Am I supposed to end things with you and beg her to take me back?" She had very obviously reached the anger stage. She just kept pacing, occasionally chewing on her thumbnail.
"She says she's not really my mom and she's right. Because the woman that raised me wouldn't abandon me just because I managed to find someone that makes me happy. My mom wouldn't make me choose who I wanted to love. She'd be happy for me. Even in the current situation." She wanted to pick something up and throw it. Rather than risk breaking anything she picked up the note, crumpled it into a ball and threw it across the room.
