Katherine grimaced at her uncle's words. She had thought he was good with kids. He had seemed to hold his ground, make progress with the girl. But then, well...
"Uncle", she hissed sharply and gave him a stare. It was her turn to lower herself next to her. Katherine knelt down next to them. The tears had already started to form in the little girl's eyes.
"Look, while what my uncle said is likely correct and could have been put way gentler, it does not mean that they won't show up. Like you did. This place is like that. There are many people here from my uncle's world and they all showed up one after another," Katherine explained. That stiffened the sniffles a bit and the girl glanced from one to the other.
