He was already moving, heading for the door that would take them back to the station. They still weren't quick enough. The boiler exploded, and just like before, the shockwave picked them up and threw them forward. Dan managed to get his arms up in time to protect his head and then smacked into the doors, knocking them open just as Bryn was shoved against his back. The heat from the explosion followed them through the doors, and then vanished abruptly as the doorway to the Outlook hotel vanished. Dan skidded along the floor until he stopped, rolled over onto his back and lay there with his eyes closed for five or ten seconds without moving other than to simply breathe.
He was exhausted. Every single bit of him hurt. He was covered in his own blood and he was seriously considering burning his shirt since it seemed to have soaked up six times it's own weight in said blood. And his dad was still alive, his mom and Dick weren't hurt at all, Mrs Massey was gone and the evil that had infested the Overlook was dealt with. That was a pretty fucking good day's work.
