When she said it back, Darcy felt as though all the air had been sucked out of the room. The wave of emotion was stronger than any he usually permitted to take ahold of him, but there was no stopping it this time. She said it back. He’d been quite ready to concede that he was probably the least loveable man in the universe, and then in walked Ashley Sully and said it right back.
He didn’t have time to react, because suddenly lips were on his again. He kissed her fervently, as if he’d never been kissed before - and he supposed he hadn’t really. Not like this. Not lovingly, not with genuine passion and desire.
He almost whimpered as she moved her hand again. The moral part of him was screaming at him to stop, to move her hand back down again, but desperate desire was winning out for the moment.
