"Good," he nodded, trying and failing to control his smile as he noticed her moving a little bit closer. But there was definitely a guilt there. He didn't know how much her mother had told her about their meeting, but he could guess from her still wanting to be close to him that perhaps it hadn't been much. How could he explain it without hurting her? He wasn't sure it was possible.
"I'm glad he's up and about, at least. That is good progress," he said, just avoiding the topic he knew was going to have to come up eventually. He lifted the pot and poured them out some tea.
