"I'm from the year twenty one-eighty six. So almost as far back as you are forward." She neglected to add 'in time' she hoped it would be more comforting not to be reminded verbally just how off everything was. "And I promise to let you get the next door. Men still hold doors for women when I come from. Especially the older more stubborn ones. Just in this case I am the older more stubborn one." As she had interpreted his apologetic look. And hoped to set him at ease at least a little bit.
As Shepard entered behind him she rounded the table. "And for the nautical terms, that is galaxy wide. Uh..." She honestly couldn't say she knew how much he would know about space. She turned to face him. "You'd be surprised to know that most of Earth's starships actually look like they could be sea bound. The Normandy is an exception. She was a prototype."
She was stalling, she knew it. Which wasn't like her. She turned toward the giant window that took up most of the exterior wall. It gave a perfect view of the station and the stars beyond. Or at least as much as it could from where the ship was parked. She sighed softly and ran her fingers through her hair tossing her cap onto the table top. "You can have a seat Mr. Darcy. I didn't ask you here to put you in front of a firing squad." At least not yet.
