[Slipped under their door, Saturday evening. It is a sheet of paper, folded and sealed with wax.]
To Mr Sully & Commander Shepard,
Firstly, please allow me to apologise if I am addressing you incorrectly. I am not aware of Mr Sully's rank, and I will address this oversight in the future.
I am told that you were informed of the circumstances which led to your daughter being detained with me overnight. You have an exceptional daughter, who has been nothing other than helpful and kind since I arrived on this station. She is a credit to you. I want to thank you for sparing her for the evening, and offer my reassurance that it was nothing other than her caring nature and my poor health that kept her from returning home at a more respectable hour.
Miss Sully has also expressed that you are anxious to meet with me. This feeling is mutual, and I will gladly visit at your earliest convenience. I am only sorry that it has not been sooner.
