Katherine stared at her mother in wonder as she stepped back just as much as her father did. That was the coolest thing she had ever seen or maybe it was just her pride telling her that. Her father's face did not show nearly as much fascination as her own but it was not the impassive mask he usually wore.

Despite his words, Katherine could see the shimmer in his eyes. A challenge was nothing her father backed down from.
