Darcy watched Ashley's hand with curiosity as she worked at the tie, an intricate series of twists and loops that he wasn't sure he could memorise based off of this one observation in a slightly darkened room.
His expression darkened a little as she decided to apologise for her brazen behaviour earlier; he would have been happier not to mention it again, but she was quite a live one, determined to get her side of things across clearly enough. "Is this your apology, or simply an attempt at justifying your presumptuous letter?" he asked her, although his sharp tone was suddenly softened as she moved to fix his collar. Had she just complimented him in there, as well?
"I would have looked very out of place in my own attire, I fear," he added. It wasn't quite a thank you, but he hoped it was implied. He lifted a hand to see how it felt on, and he gave her another little bow of thanks. "Yes, you would be doing me a great service," he nodded.
