Gatsby nodded in understanding. "Sure, sure, I can see why that would be helpful actually. I've thrown a lot of large parties, but you know, you never make it around everyone, and maybe you've missed out on talking to someone you might really click with, even just as a friend or.." he shrugged.
He listened as Dean spoke about his lost loves, a feeling of sympathy sitting in his soul. "Ah. I'm sorry. This kind of place really doesn't make it easy to really settle down, does it?" he said. Some people managed it incredibly well, but not everyone was so fortunate. He really wished Nick would come back, sometimes. Just to have someone who truly understood him.
He laughed appreciatively, shaking his head lightly at the idea of cooking it up. "Oh. Oh, yes... sorry, thought it was... obvious," he admitted. It had apparently been incredibly obvious to many people back home. "That's why my father would've been despairing over the cheeseburger," he added.
