Peter tried hard not to flinch away from the touch of her hand on his arm. He wasn't used to human contact any more, especially not from pretty young women who were dating a younger version of himself. Still, he knew he couldn't keep avoiding people if he really was stuck here. Besides, he knew that Lucy only meant well. He'd gotten that impression from her as soon as he'd spoken to her when he'd arrived.
"If he says he does, he does," Peter reassured her with a small smile. He knew himself and he wouldn't say anything about emotions and feelings to a woman if he wasn't completely sure of himself. Then again, he was always completely sure of himself when it came to love. Some said he loved too easily - something that had caused him a great deal of loss and heartbreak over the last few years - but he couldn't change how he felt so he didn't see the point in hiding it and playing games.
"I'm glad he's got someone," he added. He didn't want the younger version of himself to feel the loneliness he'd had to learn to deal with. "He deserves it."
