The weight on her heart lifted the moment he appeared next to Lucy. Her shoulders visibly sagged, but still she ran. It gave her an extra boost not have the worry of that being the last time she saw him. Him fighting to save them while she ran away like a coward. Never again. She'd never again put herself, or him in that position.
"Take Lucy. If you can come back for me, do it, if not... I'll meet you at home." After all, it seemed her fire had self preservation in mind. The smoke billowing from Shannon's nose and mouth thinned, though, to whisps. "I'll figure something out to hold them off."
