"We're all distracted by these things." Lucy couldn't blame her grandmother when she wasn't prepared herself; she hadn't expected a mob of ghosts this size. They were getting more deranged all the time.
"Back off!" She growled to one of the ghosts when it came close to her. She lunged at it, reaching for its throat, only to have it disappear just out of reach, casting her a mocking look as more of them showed up in the corridor. She stopped fighting as her grandmother's arms wrapped around her and the fire appeared.
Her grandfather appeared a moment later. Had he been close enough to hear Shannon? Or had he heard her in another way, something more magical. It didn't matter now. She simply wanted to get them all away from the ghosts. "If you have a better weapon to use on them, please be our guest."
