Jake was checking up on all the different animals in the park, making sure they were all fed and watered and nobody had eaten anybody else and there weren't any fights going on, all the usual things. Bucephalus was trailing after him, as usual, and trying to tell him something. As usual, Jake stopped and crouched down beside the griffin.
He spoke quietly to Bucephalus as he combed his fingers through the griffin's feathers, straightening out primaries and secondaries and giving eyebrow rubs and scratches all the time. He got a few headbutts for his troubles, mostly when he tried to stop giving eyebrow rubs, but soon enough it was time for Jake to continue on his rounds. Except this time, when he stood up and looked round, he had an audience.
"Kaltxi, ma Luna," he said, loud enough to carry, before walking over to see her. Once he was close enough, he did his little greeting salute to her. Behind him, Bucephalus made a little "mrrrr" noise before sitting down on his hind legs and preening the underside of one of his wings.
