That made her frown, arms tightening around Damon. She knew exactly what he meant when he said it was a pointed comment. He'd taken it as an attack on himself. A reminder that Stefan still didn't think Damon capable of much good.
"You do." Care about other people's feelings, she meant. If he didn't, he wouldn't have compelled her to forget meeting her. Or that he'd told her he loved her. He wouldn't have stepped back to let her be with who he thought was the better brother.
"And I'm sure he will." And she'd stop feeling guilty about it eventually. "I just want him to be as happy as I am." She meant every word she said.
Head lifted again, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. "Because I am," she assured him. When she wasn't angsting over something Stefan said. "I'm so happy with you." And so sorry that her previous relationship kept rearing its ugly head.
