"I don't know," Katherine said as she clung to the rock of musings. This was easier. She tried to go over the people she knew. She went over one by one, trying to rationalise her thoughts while reality kept piercing through the blanket she tried to create. The Hulk would have been her prime suspect but he was gone. "Thor, probably." She shook her head. "But he wouldn't... unless something messed with him." Now there was a thought. A fucking terrifying one.
"Let's look for other clues." Unlike her mother she did not hold back from touching anything. The thought to treat her father's quarters as a crime scene had not occurred to her. She switched back the covers on one side to exam her father's arm. What she saw made her stop dead in her tracks. "Mum?!" Panic let her drag out the word. While Loki's face was intact just like the skin that went down to his shoulder, his right arm was in a different state. Just beneath the shoulder the flesh had started to rot. The upper arm was barely affected but closer to the hand, almost all flesh had rotted away until only strings of muscle and tendons were left to cover the hand.
