He pointed out the tiny push-to-break switch on the existing motor. It was habit for him now to keep that switch pushed while he moved the braces himself. If something happened that was enough to break his concentration enough that he stopped using the Force, the switch was released and the motor kicked in. A very simple solution, thought up when resources were scarce. No doubt there would be a far more elegant solution in TK's newer versions.
