Rohan nodded and moved over to the bench before sitting. Then standing up. Then sitting again. Once more he stood up and groaned. Clearly nervous he paced a few steps this way, then that way, before coming to kneel in front of Lucy with one hand gentle on her knee as the other sort of moved in his typical animated fashion as he spoke. First it ran down his face over his mouth before up through his spiked red hair.
"Lucy," he said after stalling while considering this wasn't the best time or place. Maybe it shouldn't say anything. He could just bottle it up and never tell anyone ever again and that would be okay, right? Wrong. Every word he said was a battle with himself on if he should say it, if he shouldn't. Was it the right word? Would he be able to say what he needed to say delicately enough to make sense but not so frailly it sounded like he didn't want to be with her?
Rohan's heart had never felt more happy and content. He wanted to see her many times more and always make her smile. That was good. Yeah, he opened with that.
"I've never had a better day in all of my life. I hope you'll do me the great honor by allowing me to take you out again, and some more after that." He gave her his dashing yet equally playful smile. "But before we go on all of those amazing dates or lazy days at the pool together, or whatever we do, there's something really important about myself that I need to tell you. I am an honest man. I never want to hurt you or anyone I've ever met. I don't even want to hurt flies, annoying as they are."
He gave a small chuckle as his fingertips scratched at his temple, clearly worried with her response. For that moment he decided to pause and take a breath and let her be part of this as a conversation. In the past he had just unloaded his baggage and left it at that. More grace, a gentle talk, might go over better.
"So, I'd like to talk to you about it and we can just go from there. Is that alright?"
