Sookie wanted to argue; she wanted to claim that she could work while she was sick. It would be an outright lie. Her body was already strained as much as she could take, from the workload. Her muscles ached and her stomach growled at the end of every shift. She frowned. "We can't afford for any of us to be sick. We need to find a way out of here, Mom." She tried to keep the desperation out of her voice for the sake of her sisters. "Even if it means stealing or fighting our way out."
