'Good' was a relative term. Compared to their life on the island or any of the dimensions she'd lived in before then, this place was a hell. The conditions were poor if she were being charitable, and it wasn't going to improve anytime soon. They had too many mouths to feed on too little pay.
"It was good. The girls got to play with some of the other younglings and I helped with the laundry, I think I'm starting to get the hang of the trading language they use here." Of course it left her exhausted but there was nothing to be done about it.
