Who: JR and Tommy (and Rawm the lightning dog!)
Where: A maintenance bay
What: Storm-watching and then, who knows?
Rating: Sciencey to start with
There was a storm on the planet below them. It had been roiling around for days now, moving about in the planet's atmosphere and disrupting everything in it's path. There were always storms brewing, raging and then dissipating down below, it wasn't anything new or dangerous for the station, but it was the first one Tommy had been able to see in its entirety and he was recording everything he could think of to record, sitting cross-legged on the floor and noting everything down. The maintenance bay he was in had almost the best view, even if it was looking through one of the other rings, but it was definitely the best place to make his observations from. Besides, if he went into the park, Banshee would be there and he was very grumpy at the moment. Best to avoid his uncle's ikran for the time being, he'd decided.
"Back home, I read a few papers on different gas giants, and they all seem to have massive storms on them. One paper talked about how the clouds on this one planet would be made of corundum - that's what makes rubies and sapphires, yeah? - and it was like Earth's moon, it always had the same side facing the sun so the temperature difference between the day-side and the night-side was insane, like, thousands of degrees difference, so the clouds would form on the night-side, and then go round to the day-side because of the massive wind-speeds and almost instantly evaporate, isn't that cool? But it can't be like that down below because it has days," he said, continuing to ramble at Rawm who was ignoring gravity yet again and lay curled up on the wall close to the opening of the maintenance bay. The dog was content to let Tommy chat away as long as they were together, and Tommy didn't care that his dog was a dog and so, not really capable of understanding his science-babble, so it was good for them both.
Rawm eventually padded down from the wall and crossed over to lie down behind Tommy, who soon found himself leaning back and using his dog as a cushion. The lightning that crackled over them both every once in a while didn't bother either of them while Tommy kept typing things up until his hands got too sore and he had to stop. Then he realized that all of his body was getting stiff and sore and he needed to move or do something to loosen up. Stupid injuries, that was easier said than done.
