Shannon stood from her seat and went to her daughter. And whether it was asked for or not she pulled the younger woman into her arms. "He mentioned that Thor did the rescuing. And that may have a lot to do with some of the strife at both men. He hadn't been there. But all this is new to him, being a father, this place... It's not the island now but I don't doubt it plays by the same rules." She leaned back and brushed a stray hair from Kat's eyes. "He also is afraid. If Lucy comes the way babies are supposed to, that it might lead to..." Sometimes she understood more than she realized. "While he doesn't blame Lucy, he holds Rhys responsible. As if any man could know that sort of fate was before them."
Her hands slid down Katherine's arms so that her fingers caught up the younger woman's. "It all speaks of how much he loves you. He doesn't want to lose you. And I doubt the island has messed with him enough for him to know that it can take your 'self' away." She was quiet for a moment. "I didn't tell you all this to upset you, I just know we talked about it at our last meeting. Hopefully with time, a lot of time, he will get over this bull-headedness. He'll see what I see, that Rhysand would rather rip off all his appendages, including most men's favorite one, rather than hurt you. Or see you hurt."
