"We'll find a way to reunite them." Cora promised, though she wasn't sure how. Everything in this place was so new and different than anything she'd encountered before. "Maybe even before he wakes up and they'll never know they were apart." It would be nice if there could be a happy ending. One that could have been found in the happier island books about fairy tales that never quite captured the reality of enchanted lands and yet she wanted to believe they were true.
"Are you sure you're both okay? The water's not making you sick?" Cora couldn't help but think of the pirates and their attempts to poison the waters of her home. Or the other worlds she'd visited in her past that had to deal with pollution in their waters. They could be deadly to all sea creatures, even mer folk.
"You can believe it will work." Cora answered his question. "Magic works best when there are true believers."
