Who? Bilbo & Lucy Where? Out and about When? BACKDATED to Bilbo's arrival What? Bilbo arrives, Lucy explains things. Rating? Low. Status? Closed, complete.
This was all very disconcerting. Perhaps Bilbo was getting slightly more used to adventure, but that didn't mean that he very much liked being separated from the rest of the group, especially when he didn't have a clue where he was. He had only turned around for a second, and now he didn't recognise anything. And there was snow on the ground that hadn't been there moments before... it was some kind of wizardry, he was sure.
"Erm- h-hello?" he called out anxiously, taking a few cautious steps forward, barefoot in the snow. He still had all of his gear- his backpack, his elf sword- he pulled it from it's sheath, breathing a sigh of relief as the silver of metal shined back at him, rather than an ominous blue. He tucked it away again, rocking back and forth with a bit of a bounce, as he tried to figure out what had happened.
"Hello- is anyone- there?" he tried, growing a little more concerned. He didn't think he would survive terribly long all on his own.
It was cold outside, but Lucy had thought she might make a run for some groceries. She was dressed a bit more like a queen of Narnia this outing, for they were her warmest clothes that had come with her, a cloak pulled close around her as she made her way into town. She was on her way back, a few bags in hand when she heard the voice and it gave her pause. Turning, she made her way toward the voice and looked a little concerned as she saw the..man? No, not a human. But not a dwarf, either.
"Hello!" she called out, approaching slowly. "Excuse me- are you lost?"
Bilbo turned sharply as a voice responded, but relaxed almost instantly on realising how friendly she sounded. He looked up at her, taking in the pretty face and blonde hair. He wasn't entirely sure what she was- an elf, perhaps? No, her ears- a mortal female, he could presume, but from where? It was unclear. It didn't matter.
"Hello. Yes, I am lost- and I really must get unlost again, quite quickly, or I'll never catch up. Did you- were there a group of dwarves...? Did you see?" he asked, having a horrible feeling that he already knew the answer.
"There are dwarves here? I haven't seen any!" Lucy looked around, concerned. Was it possible? Could there be creatures from her beloved Narnia here? Or another world like hers? She looked back to the- er. Man? Not a man. Dwarf? Creature. "Where were you? I'm afraid you might be in a completely different world from where you were. I'm new here, myself- I still haven't learned a whole lot about this place."
"Yes, they were- thirteen of them in number, and um- a wizard, all in grey..." he explained, although she had just said that she hadn't seen any. This wasn't good- this was really not very good at all. He really was terribly lost, and he didn't understand how that had happened.
"We were-" what had Gandalf said it was called? "We were just over the Misty Mountains, at a place they call Carrock," he explained, although already he was doubting that his explanation was going to help. "A completely different world?" he repeated, really not liking the sound of it. "New here? Where is 'here'? I may have a map."
"I'm not entirely certain of where 'here' is, myself," Lucy admitted. She offered an apologetic smile and adjusted the hold on her bags. "This is an island, as best as I can tell. There are people and creatures here from many lands and many worlds, and from what I understand, they're trying to rebuild a society. I don't know the name of the island, and the technology is..nothing like I've ever seen before."
Bilbo frowned slightly, looking around as if a sudden signpost might stick out for them. He was getting quite sick of riddles, frankly. It wasn't her fault, though- he didn't think, anyway.
He nodded with understanding when she mentioned they were rebuilding a society. That part, he could understand. "An island of displaced travelers. I see," he commented, a little melancholy perhaps. "Well, maybe it doesn't have a name yet, if it was an abandoned place when people started arriving," he suggested. If it was a new society, the lack of a name wasn't terribly surprising. He didn't understand what she meant by technology.
"Where did you come from, Miss?" he asked, although he wasn't sure it would help clear things up.
"Narnia," Lucy replied. "A world far from this place. It was a beautiful land, but I haven't seen anything like it here." She looked around them, then back to him. "I- oh goodness, forgive me. You must be cold! Let's- can we get you inside somewhere, perhaps find you something to eat or drink? We can try to figure out what happened to your friends and see if we can come up with a plan for what to do next."
"Narnia-" he repeated, nodding along thoughtfully. "I've not heard of it before, but it sounds like a lovely place," he told her with a cheerful smile. Well, perhaps he was lost, but at least he had been found by someone pleasant.
It was true that he wasn't really dressed for snow, and he'd had significantly less food than he was used to over the past few days, so her suggestion was a welcome one.
"Oh, that's very kind- yes, thank you. That sounds like an excellent plan."
