Lucy nodded. She did have to admit that he made a valid point. It was hard to train properly when the only others with the same powers were dead or gone.
"Then you father was scum." Her grandfather, Lucy reminded herself. The idea of family, let alone extended family seemed so foreign. "The man was cruel, but he never discriminated on gender lines." Everyone was treated with the same callous violence. "Your father isn't here, is he?" She had never heard of him being there. Anything was possible with the man around though. If anyone tried to cut off her wings, she'd find a way to cut out their throats.
Lucy gave him a smile back and felt a twinge of pride that her father choose equality over tradition. "Did you train anyone?" She was wondering, more specifically, if he could train her to use her powers and to fight. That was the training she needed. Even if she did allow herself to believe that this was her father and let herself feel joy, she couldn't forget about the future island.
She nodded. "I would like that." She said and took his hand slowly. She wanted to see more of what the island had looked like when it was beautiful.
