Ernest had dressed for the water fight appropriately in board shorts and a dark shirt, and by now he was thoroughly soaked. Of course he'd promised Charlie that he would play, and he hadn't disappointed him. By this point though, his age was starting to show in that he didn't have the energy he'd once had. Kids were hard to keep up with, and Charlie was now happily playing at paddling pool fishing with his peers.
Ernest headed for the safe zone, and grabbed a towel to attempt to dry himself off a little. He gave Micha a smile, and felt like he knew that look on her face well enough. He'd worn it often enough when thinking of his boys back home. Now he had a whole new adventure ahead of him.
"Good to hear them laugh, isn't it?" he commented simply. They spent too much time on the island worrying. Play was important.
