Bobby made sure that his mom had everything under control with the toddler version of himself and his brother before heading out of the house. He double checked the time and realized that he left earlier than he needed so he took the scenic route to the big house. He took the time to stop and say hi to Seddrinth before he walked in the back door of the house. “Nan? You here?” He called out just loud enough to be heard beyond the kitchen but not so loud as to possibly wake the sleeping children. He did give a little check to make sure they were still asleep. One advantage to being a telepath. Bobby grabbed himself a bottle of water before heading out of the kitchen in search of Izzy. ---- Once she'd gotten everyone fed, changed, and down for a nap Izzy took a few minutes to relax and catch her breath. Bobby was due over soon and she didn't want to keep him waiting. The missed period and pregnancy test had only served as confirmation of something she'd already known. Having been through the process twice already she was well acquainted with the way her body acted when pregnant and the signs had been there for weeks now. If anything they were stronger than with her first two. Izzy didn't mind being pregnant, honestly. She wouldn't have imagined this life for herself before meeting Tom, and maybe that attitude came from a wish, but she wouldn't trade it for anything. Bobby's voice calling out snapped her out of her wool gathering and she hurried in the direction it came before anyone woke up. --- “Hey.” Bobby smiled as Izzy headed his way. He kept his voice a little quieter than usual. Of course if he did accidentally wake anyone up he'd help get them back down for their naps, but best not to wake them up in the first place. There was something about the rather large height difference that amused him. He got the same amusement from standing next to his mom. “You're looking lovely today.” He smiled. ---- “Flatterer, “ Izzy accused fondly, reaching up to pat him on the cheek. While she was technically his grandmother the age difference was so close she felt more like an aunt or older sister towards him, similar to the way she felt toward her grown children. It didn't make her love them any less once they arrived and got to know them. It helped that the toddler version was just the same in personality. She didn't think she looked especially lovely with jeans and a t-shirt. Especially with her hair a mess from dealing with four kids under four and little Izzy, but she’d take it. “How are you today sweetheart?” ---- “It's not flattery if it's true.” He grinned at her. Something that worked with his mom was giving her a compliment when it was obvious she felt a bit frumpy. And he always meant it. “I'm good.” Bobby nodded. He was thankful that she hadn't seemed to hear his nearly 4am broadcast. He didn't want to worry her. ---- “Well thank you then.” He looked tired to her eyes but Izzy decided not to press the issue. Maybe she'd mention it to Rachel and let her handle it. “Are you hungry? The least I can do if you're coming to me is make sure you’re fed.” ---- “I'm a teenager, of course I'm hungry.” Bobby chuckled. It was pretty much a constant state with him. And he knew better than to try to talk her out of feeding him. “Whatever's easy.” He didn't discriminate when it came to food. ---- “Hot dogs sound good?” Izzy offered as she made her way toward the kitchen. It was what she'd fed the little ones for lunch along with apple slices, and she'd nibbled on some crackers to see if they'd stay down. They had, and she didn't feel like food was going to make her throw up that minute, so she felt brave enough to indulge. ---- “Hot dogs would be amazing.” Bobby nodded. He followed her to the kitchen. “You want any help?” It was something he'd done a lot when he was younger. ----- “You know where everything is, so why don't you get the plates while I get the dogs out?” Izzy dug out the hot dogs from the refrigerator, taking the larger kind out since they weren't for the kids. It took no time at all to get them into the microwave and start cooking. The buns and condiments were already out from earlier so she didn't bother with them. ---- Bobby nodded once again and started getting the plates. He then got a couple of sodas out of the fridge and set them out as well. “Have the cravings started yet?” ---- “Not really,” Izzy leaned back against the counter and shrugged. Her grandson would be well used to her being pregnant if Isabel was correct. She idly wondered how she and Tom managed to stop having kids in that original timeline? If her body reset itself then the pill wouldn't work, and condoms were known to break. “If I'm as far along as I think I am than it should be anytime, but my morning sickness is stronger this time around.” Not that it had stopped her from eating whatever wasn't nailed down when she could keep it down. She let her hands drop to her still relatively flat stomach. It was probably nothing but her pants were already getting tight. “Since we've got some time before the dogs are ready why don't you see what you can tell about how many new aunts or uncles you'll have?” ---- “That sucks about the morning sickness.” He made a face. There were times when he was pretty happy to be a guy. “I can do that. Need you to do me a favor, though. The brain activity is new enough that it'll be pretty quiet. I need you to clear your mind so you don't drown it out. Think white noise.” He smiled. Bobby moved over so he could kneel down in front of Izzy. It would make it a little easier. He had a good idea what the number was but he wanted to confirm his suspicions. ------ “I can do that.” Izzy nodded and closed her eyes. It took a moment but she treated it the same as when she was clearing her head in preparation for a ritual, clearing out everything and focusing on nothing in particular until her mind was calm and quiet. ---- Bobby took a deep breath and closed his eyes as well. It didn't take much effort to find the little minds. The thoughts were primal, if you could even call them thoughts. Complex activity was still a ways off. He counted and bit his lip. Bobby opened his eyes and got to his feet. “I'm not sure you're going to like my answer.” ----- Izzy opened her eyes and gave him a hand up. “So it’s twins again?” She’d been hoping for one baby this time, though honestly she wasn’t too surprised. While she suspected her mind had been altered along with her body as a result of the wish she’d probably never know for sure. Either way she just wasn’t capable of being upset at bringing new life into the world. While not too surprised, that wasn’t to say she’d expected it. “That’s different from how your aunts and uncles from the future said it would play out.” ---- Bobby cleared his throat. “Yeah, things are a bit different. But um….it’s not twins.” He bit his lip again. He was actually almost afraid of her reaction. ----- “It’s not?” Izzy stared at him for a moment and blinked. Ok so her pants getting tight already wasn’t just her imagination. More than twins? She wasn’t a large woman, twins already had her off her feet quite a bit in the last trimester. She took a deep breath. “Ok. How many?” ---- Rather than saying anything, Bobby just held up three fingers. That's what he remembered growing up. He didn't want to share what else he remembered. ----- Izzy’s eyes grew wide and she dropped her attention back down to her stomach. “Three.” Would she ever have a normal pregnancy? How many children would she have? If her body reset itself after each time... She couldn’t find it in herself to be upset with it though, for whatever reason. “Huh. Three.” Her lips quirked up and she shook her head. “Yeah, I guess things are different all right. Do your grandmother a favor, if you ever see a genie’s lamp turn around and go the other way.” ---- Bobby chuckled. “I promise. No wishes for me.” He nodded. At least she wasn't freaking out. “I kind of knew already but I wanted to make sure. “ ---- “Well thank you for checking anyway.” Izzy felt a bit dazed at the knowledge still. Three. She still would have rather waited a bit longer to get pregnant again, but she hadn’t been able to keep her hands off Tom and he hadn’t been able to resist her. Would it always be like this? The timer on the microwave dinged and she took the hotdogs out on autopilot, putting them on the table for Bobby to take what he wanted first. ---- “I figure with things being different than mom remembered growing up I might have been wrong.” Bobby unconsciously licked his lips when the hot dogs came out. He was hungrier than he realized. “Fortunately it's a big house.” He put together two hot dogs, not wanting to be too much of a pig. ----- “It’s a very big house.” Izzy agreed. “And it seems to be able to change to fit our needs, what with the pool level showing up when Juliet became a mermaid and the number of bedrooms changing.” Fortunately she’d been able to make cleaning it a breeze thanks to robots and some clever spellwork. She put together a hot dog for herself, and couldn’t help but add diced pickles and onions on top of the meat. After a moment’s hesitation she reached for the horseradish as well. “If I didn’t know I was pregnant before, this would be a dead giveaway. I guess I was lying when I said the cravings hadn’t started.” ---- Bobby laughed at her comment. “I don't know about that. JT does his dogs about the same.” He shrugged before taking a big bite of one of his. They may look identical but he and his brother had very different tastes. He washed down the hot dog with one of the sodas, leaving the other for Izzy. “He's weird like that.” ---- “I don’t normally like onions or horseradish on my dogs.” Izzy commented. “But I could see why your brother might enjoy it.” She took a large bite and closed her eyes. It had smelled wonderful, it tasted better. Hopefully it would stay down. “This is the first thing I’ve had all day besides crackers.” ---- Bobby made a face. He never did like the smell of onions. “He eats horseradish on his sandwiches, too. Says it's really good on ham sandwiches.” He shook his head. Bobby managed to quickly hide a yawn under the premise of taking another bite of his hotdog. “Not even breakfast?” It was his favorite meal. But then at his age any meal was his favorite. ----- “Your great uncle Bobby liked horseradish on his sandwiches, when we could afford it. Maybe JT inherited it after all” Izzy said in between bites. She reached over for the bag of potato chips sitting on the table. “And I wasn’t feeling up to breakfast this morning, I just focused on getting the kids fed. It probably wouldn’t have stayed down if I tried.” She almost asked him if she’d been pregnant just before he’d left his own time, but decided against it. Some things were better off not knowing. The scary part was she wasn’t sure she would care if she was. The yawn hadn’t gone completely unnoticed and she raised an eyebrow. “Late night last night Bobby?” He did look a little tired come to think of it. ---- Bobby thought about lying but decided against it. It seemed to be an inherited trait that the Sully women could always tell when he was lying. He sighed a little. “It's kind of a running theme lately.” He finished the first hot dog and just kind of stared at the second one. ---- “Eat up, you’re still growing.” She told him absently, nibbling on some chips now that she’d finished the hot dog. Now that she had an appetite she was ravenous. “So what’s been going on Bobby? You haven’t been sleeping?” ---- Bobby nodded and took a big bite of the second hot dog. He thought about exactly how to answer the question as he chewed. A quick drink of soda before he nodded. "I try to stay quiet so mom doesn't find out. She's got two toddlers to worry about." He grabbed a paper towel and wiped his mouth. "When the blackout happened....Adele and I were in Paris. After it was over I found some...." He paused and cleared his throat. "Let's just call them interesting pictures on my phone." He wrinkled his nose. |
