Who: Sunila, and JAKE!
Where: The hospital on the island.
When: Early morning on the day of his return.
Warnings: None. Happy reunion times plus some upset that Jake is now using a wheelchair.
Open: Possibly open later to other Sullys, Kytana, others close to Jake and Suni.
Note: Surprise inside.



Sunila was fully aware of her pregnancy. The force gave her the answer, even before she'd taken her first pregnancy test so many weeks ago. She hadn't tried to hide it. Others might know or suspect the truth. She simply hadn't felt ready to discuss it and had held off on actually telling her mother, or any of the Sullys for that reason.

She hadn't lived in denial either, taking excellent care of herself during the past ten weeks. It was the reason she was at the hospital that morning, giving herself a proper check-up (or as proper as self-administered exam could be). She had set up an ultrasound machine near an exam bed, laid down, lifted her top, squeezed on the gel and pressed the wand to her stomach. Taking a deep breath, she watched the life on the monitor. Lives. Two beautiful babies.

Just when she thought it couldn't get any better, she felt it. Jake was back on the island. And close. She leapt up off the table, wiped her stomach and yanked her top back down. She ran the hospital halls until she found his room and practically flew through the door. "Jake!" She yelled, and yelled through the force at the same time, as she sat on his bed next to him and wrapped her arms around him tightly.

"Holy shit!"

He'd been asleep. Asleep and in an entirely different hospital only a few minutes ago. And then there was yelling (yelling in his head?) and moving and oh, shit, pain in his chest and he had to try and pull away. "I can't... I gotta... you gotta let go, it hurts," he managed, still not really sure what was going on or who was wrapped around him.

Sunila moved away instantly. The last thing she wanted was to cause the love of her life any pain. She sent feelings of calm and peace through the force to him. "It is alright, my love. Stay still. Tell me what hurts."

Jake's eyes flew open as she spoke, and he knew her voice. He'd have known that voice anywhere. He just stared at her for what probably felt like ages. "...Sunila?" he breathed, and then dared to look away to see where he was. This was round about the time that she vanished when he dreamed about 'Before', but he needed to know where he was.

"Where... what's going on?" he asked, and reached a very shaky hand towards her.

Sunila smiled, grateful that he had been able to recognize her. "Yes, it's me." She could pick up on his emotions through the force. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere." Wild rancors couldn't have dragged her away.

She took his hand and held it gently. "You're home now. You disappeared. You've been gone for months. I held onto hope though. We always come back to each other."

He shook his head and tried to move closer to her, but he was still too sore and too weak to manage much. "Years. I've been gone for years. I was ten again, and I remembered everything... Am I really here? This is real?" The 'You're real?' went unspoken, but it was very obviously being asked.

He tried to sit up after that, but it wasn't happening. He needed both arms for that, and he wasn't letting go of Sunila any time soon if he had any say in things.

"This is very real." She reached down with her other hand, brushing her fingers along his forehead. Her mind reached out to him, communicating with the force. "It doesn't get more real than our bond, our love."

That never happened in his dreams. "Oh shit..."

He tugged on her hand after that, reaching up with his free hand to pull her in for another (more gentle) hug, before he tried something he hadn't done for about eleven years - not since he tried to see if he could talk to his Tommy like that (he couldn't). It was rusty and weak and not working too good, so it matched the rest of him, he thought. "...love y-... mi-ed you so much... -roken now"

Sunila hugged him back slowly, watching for any sign that she might be hurting him. "I love you too. I missed you so much." She looked into his eyes. Where do you hurt? We'll get you fixed up. Everything's going to be wonderful now."

He couldn't stop looking at her or touching her, his free hand flitting between running through her hair or gently touching her face, and she was in his head, she was beautiful and amazing and right there and... offering to fix him up.

He gave her a small sad smile. "I got shot in the chest a couple months ago. One of the bullets tore through my spine, and the other two did all sorts of crap inside," he explained in a matter-of-fact tone of voice, his memories of what had happened flashing through his mind and therefore their bond as he spoke. "I'm supposed to be getting out today. Reckon they need the bed. And I've been on the, uh, the good drugs, a lot, so, uh... we couldn't afford for me to stay longer, or get a spinal, or... I, uh. I..."

"can't walk. Can- -lk or run or cli-... -rything hurts." he finished through their bond, unwilling or still unable to say some things out loud.

Sunila bit her lip, mentally cursing the island for putting him through so much, and at the same time she was grateful to have him back. "Okay." She said after a moment to take it in. "Okay. First things first. We've got plenty of beds and drugs here. I''ll help take the edge off." She was reaching out through the force, already trying to lessen his pain with her healing ability. I did learn a few things from my father too. I'll be right back . She kept her eyes on him as she left the room, returning quickly with an iv of pain medication, knowing her Jake well enough to chose a medicine that wouldn't give him a bad reaction. "I'll get this hooked up and then we can talk about getting you well."

It was stupid to panic. It made his heart beat faster, it made him hurt more, it made him feel worse. And Sunila was still there, he could sort-of feel her in his head again, so yeah, stupid. It wasn't a dream, he wasn't going to vanish, Sunila wasn't going to disappear... but he was still trying to push himself up into a sitting position for some reason while she wasn't in the room, as if he could get up and go after her.

And then she came back in, and the amount of relief he felt was insane. "You came back," he muttered, and lay back on the bed again. He held out an arm for her, showing her one of his cannula points, and waited for the slow cool seep of pain relief. "This might make me stupid," he warned her, before amending what he'd just said, "...stupid-er."

"Of course I did." Sunila worked on the iv, starting him on a slow drip of pain meds. "I will always come back. I'll find a way to stay with you no matter what." She was done with the island separating them. Her fingers went to his head when she was finished with the iv, running her fingers through his hair gently. "Or it might help you to think without the pain in the way." She smiled at him. There was so much she wanted to say. "I thought about you every day. And now we can think about us and our future."

Jake visibly relaxed as the drugs started kicking in, a lot of tension and pain draining away from him with each drip. Her touch in his hair felt amazing, and he finally managed to smile properly. "I'm staying with you. You're stuck with me now," he told her, and caught hold of her hand again. "Sorry about that," he added, then pulled her hand down to kiss it.

"Sorry for what? Making my lips jealous of my hands?" Sunila sat on the bed again and leaned down, kissing his lips. "You have nothing to be sorry for. I know you' re here now." She grinned widely at him. "We know you're here now. We're ready to be a family."

His face fell at the mention of them having a family, obviously not picking up on the way Sunila was phrasing her words. "Baby, I... I can't..."

And then he paused as things clicked and pennies dropped.

"...what do you mean, 'we'?"

Sunila looked in his eyes. "It has been a long time, hasn't it? Since you've really felt with the force." She took his hand and placed it on her abdomen. "Follow my lead. Concentrate on the tiniest life in the room."

A baby. Sunila was pregnant from before. They were having a baby! A baby! Jake's brain felt like it was swinging all over the place, and it took a lot of focus to calm down enough to do anything.

He closed his eyes and tried his best to kick down old shields and doors and barriers and all the crap he'd put in place round his brain to stop 20 billion people driving him mad. [Yo- -eed to hel- love... -m so tire-], he managed, trying desperately to do as she was asking.

He could do that, sure. He latched onto her voice as best he could, and tried to follow the sound of her breathing. It took a while, longer than he'd thought, but eventually he could pick up on her heartbeat as well. [-is right?]

Yes, that's it. You can feel how the force moves through me with every breath, every beat of my heart. It moves through every living thing. Sunila smiled. Now just feel it a bit deeper, feel the force moving through another tiny little heart. She wanted him to realize there were two fetal heartbeats on his own, wanted to see that wonder in his eyes.

He did as she asked, listening as hard as he could through the Force, and then paused. Was he doing it wrong? There was an echo... He tried again, but there it was again.

Opening his eyes, he looked up at Sunila and was about to ask why there was an echo, and then it hit him. "You're having twins?!" he blurted out, looking down at their joined hands on her stomach, and then back up to her face again.

He was gonna be someone's dad. Two someones' dad! Holy shit. He laughed at the thought of it, then splayed his fingers out over her belly. "They've got most of the awesomeness from their mom, I reckon," he pointed out with a grin, and then reached up to wipe at his eyes a little.

"Told you I was gonna get stupid," he pointed out, and covered his eyes with his hand.

Sunila giggled. "My Dad would agree. Something about House genes. But I know they'll get awesomeness from both sides."

"Hey, hey." Sunila hoped he would look at her again and shook her head. "It's not stupid to be happy about our children. It's beautiful. Hell, it's sexy to see you happy about being a dad."

He just nodded, unable to get words out for the moment, and his hand stayed where it was.

Then he took his hand from her stomach and scrubbed at his face, feeling stupid and embarrassed and broken and amazed and delighted and everything all at once. "And... and then," he continued, "I'm here again, with you and you're pregnant and... Fuck, I'm a wreck..."

She sent him a sense of calm, and soothed her hand over his shoulder. "The best wreck ever. No one could blame you for feeling overwhelmed. I am here now. We're together. All four of us."

He nodded again, before reaching out to catch hold of her other hand. [Come here... please]

Right there and then, all he wanted to do was just to hold Sunila close. He was already exhausted, even though he'd hardly been awake, but then again, he woke up tired these days. The pretty severe moodswings hadn't helped, he realized, wiping at his eyes yet again. But yeah, he just wanted to lie there with Sunila in his arms and enjoy having her there beside him for the first time in eleven years.

Sunila laid next to him carefully, not wanting to aggravate his injuries. She kept holding his hand, giving it a firm squeeze. Leaning in, she pressed her lips to his cheek. "I missed being this close to you." She placed her head on his shoulder. I want to start calling myself Sully. I want us all to have the same last name. And I'm going to start telling people about the pregnancy."

Sunila let a few happy tears fall down her face too. She had longed to have him back, to share a life with him, be his wife and the mother of his children, for so long. Now, it could finally happen. He hated that she was right about him needing rest. He wanted to be awake, talking to her about everything and telling her how he felt and how much he'd missed her and yeah, okay, even some stuff that had happened while he'd been away, but his eyelids were getting heavier and heavier with each passing second, and he just couldn't stay awake.

"Don't go," he murmured into her hair, while his grip on her hand tightened as much as he could. [Love yo-] he managed before exhaustion took him and he fell asleep again.
