It was clear that Cora really wasn't getting all of it, and Juliet didn't bother trying to elaborate to try and make her. The other mermaid understood the gist of what the phones did if not the detail. If it was important she'd follow up later and understanding would come in time, if not then it wasn't going to hurt either of them to let it drop.
"There aren't very many people here, there's only one or two large boats that can carry nets. Most fishing is done with rod and reel." She'd seen the sympathetic look and nodded in acknowledgement. "What happened with me, it didn't happen here. The island doesn't usually send people born here away, but sometimes it does. But I came back that's all that's important." And that's all she really wanted to say on the matter. "People who've been here a while or those who were born here are usually all right."
She looked at her phone. "My niece wants to know if you know a mermaid named Ariel and if you have any sea creatures as pets, like dolphins."
