"Niece?" Thomas repeated. His brain was clearly still stuck in first gear. "How long was I gone?" He didn't touch the first information he had received. They could get Harry back later.
He slowly crouched down to pet Mouse. The temple dog seemed more on edge, more alert when he usually was. Thomas couldn't blame him. Inside of him, his demon paced. He glanced up at the woman and for a second all he could see was food. Mouse growled and pulled back.
Thomas got back up again, collecting himself in the process. He couldn't let go.
