On the longest bit of blank wall that could be found. An enormous mural was painted. Almost like a memorial. People that were currently on the island were painted, with a large amount of the people that had vanished, both recently, and as far back as there had been residents, that he could find pictures for, on the island.
In a highlighted area there was a note sealed in an envelope, which was closed up in a plastic bag. The note read:
I know we have the memorial wall, and the cemetery, but sometimes it gets hard to picture faces of the people we've lost. Sometimes it's hard to remember faces of the people who are still here. I hope you see someone, and it makes you misty eyed, but it also makes you smile. You are the first person to read this note, if not see the painting. If you like it, I hope you'll pay it forward to at least three other people. If you really like it, maybe pay it forward to at least one person you don't know. You don't have to, of course. You'll be the only one that knows that you don't. But if you do, leave them a note like this one. And know you'll probably make them smile too.
