Tony chuckled softly. “We really need to work on your self esteem issue.”
----
“Oh I know. I’m so down on myself all the time.” Sarah grinned. Though she wasn’t really vain, she was just glad she didn’t look like the hunchback of Notre Dame. “I am one of your son’s finest pieces of work, if I do say so.”
------
Tony nodded. “So not that crazy guy that randomly showed up claiming to be my son?” He didn’t want to think that that man was who Richie grew up to be.
-----
“Nope, I grew up with him. He is pretty awesome, I mean… David did a number on me. Richie fixed me pretty well. He was trying to fix my knee too, I just got impatient waiting for replacement tissue to grow.” Sarah moved her hair and turned her face into the light. “You can’t even see any scars can you?”
------
Tony moved to look closer at her, taking everything in. “Not a one. He did good work. I’m sorry that it was necessary.” He sighed softly.
------
“I’d do it again, if it meant saving Rachel. I’m just glad Richie was able to fix things. If he hadn’t…” She shook her head slowly. “I was stupid. I should have seen things for what they were, before they got to that… point.”
------
“Hey, it wasn't your fault.” Tony pulled her into a hug. “Don't blame yourself for trying to see the good in an asshole. Just makes you a better person.”
----
Sarah sighed softly, her arms wrapping back around him. Her face settling against his shoulder, or as close as she could. “I just wish foresight was as clear as hindsight sometimes.”
------
Tony rubbed her back gently and nodded. “I completely agree with that.” He sighed softly. “Though there are some things that I think I might have changed had I known about them in advance. And it wouldn't have necessarily been a good thing for that to happen.”
