JR leaned her head on Rachel's shoulder, taking comfort in her older sister's nearness. She and Eylssa talked about their respective wars fairly often, being veterans was a large part of both their lives and it helped having someone who'd been through similar experiences. How much could she share with Rachel though and not give her nightmares by association?
"Thanks. I think it was just a reaction to all this-" she wave a hand in the air, indicating their lost family members. "It dredged up bad memories. It's just...younger us will never know uncle Jake, and the grownup versions won't be around to see what happens with us. Like what if you met another fella you really liked and gave your boys some brothers or sisters? Or when Elyssa and I have kids. They'll never know." It was like a punch in the gut.
