Kerry knew something was wrong before her eyes even opened to greet the day. She hadn't woken up on her own in years. There should be servants to discreetly wake and dress her, so she would look perfect for her husband. The scent of food being prepared should have been easy to detect as well. When her eyes opened, she couldn't recognize the bedchamber. Had she been abducted in attempt to manipulate her husband?
Kerry rose from her bed and examined the room. Fortunately, she was able to find a dress (left behind from one of the elves that used to live in Rivendell). It was a different style than what she was used to, but it would suffice to cover herself. She made her way to the bedroom door without running or any other sign of distress, carrying herself in a manner every bit as regal as her James did, only with her it was a quiet strength as opposed to the more obvious force needed in a king. She stopped before she opened the door and took a breath. Whatever situation was waiting on the other side, she would meet it with the dignity expected of her. When she opened the door, there was a relief in not seeing an immediate threat. She did hear her husband calling for servant, then for his friend and she stepped out of the room, following the sound of his voice. "James?"
