He hadn't ever lost any of that cheek, she noted with a raised brow. Abi was just starting to catalogue the various ways he was similar and how he was different. He was certainly a handsome man.
Glancing at the sparkler on her left hand, she chuckled and conceded his point. "Engagement ring, yeah, but I never needed validation for it. I don't need to marry him to prove that he loves me. I just feel it, you know? When you find the right person, there's this part of you that feels complete while you're with them." She said, her eyes glazing over at the memory of falling in love with her idol. "It doesn't make either of us lesser as human beings, we just feel more of ourselves when we're with each other."
Abi cleared her throat and sat back, "Yeah. Well, he's not Ernie's son, biologically speaking, but Charlie worships the ground he walks on. We're a real family, something I never really had. It might not be traditional but... well, the Hemingway I know isn't really one for a traditional existence. God, the stories I could tell you if you'd even begin to listen..." she laughed lyrically.
