"Oh, thank God," he breathed. Ernest felt as though the world had colour again, as if it had stopped spinning for a moment and someone had opened a window to let a gust of air in. The physical injury was enough to deal with; he couldn't imagine if he had to learn to come to terms with a brain injury. It didn't bear thinking about.
He turned to her, searching her expression as she started to speak as if trying to figure her out. He smirked a little, frowned, smiled, furrowed hi brow- it was a whole range of emotion and thought flashing across his face for her to read there. He chuckled nervously, not sure what on earth this strange woman was talking about, and he looked around as if to examine this new world.
This new world- that was more different and unusual than he had realised at first. And he felt his heart quicken. "What?" he stuttered, looking back to her as she continued her explanation. He was really frowning now. "This is... what is this?" he pulled back from her slightly, more than a little freaked out. "A joke, someone's got you to play a little prank? I've not come back quite that loopy, you know."
