Re: Pre-Wedding, Wherever Jack was
Ernest fixed his purple tie in the mirror, and attached the cute bouttonniere that he'd been handed. He felt strangely nervous, even though of course it wasn't his wedding day for once. Ernest and weddings was a bad combination, and he felt hyper-aware of not ruining anything for his son.
His usual go-to would have been a drink to calm his nerves, but he really wanted to try not to fall back onto old coping mechanisms. He didn't need to, he didn't need to be like that anymore. And he knew it would remind Jack of his alternate reality, which was absolutely the last thing he wanted to do.
Instead, he ran his fingers through his hair and turned back to his grown up boy with an affectionate smile.
