Rufus frowns just slightly as Kaya fiddles with his hair and straightens his coat. Even moreso when she tells him it's New Year's Day. He wants to comment on that, but she really is fussing- though he supposes if they're going to be meeting other people Kaya knows (and he has no doubt that there are other people here, even if it is quiet at the moment. And she must know them. Which is only confirmed by the constantly beeping in her pocket.) And because Rufus thinks that he should make a good impression on her friends, since she has offered so much to him in so short a space of time, he worries that he's not looking his best.
"Do I look okay?" he asks, because he's damp and his eyes are red and his nose is running a bit from the crying- "What are we doing? I'm afraid I'm not really prepared for anything." But she probably knows that. She found him curled up in the snow-
~~ Sherlock genuinely appreciates how trusting Robert is, and though most people can't read his expressions he does look really pleased. It's an oddly affectionate look he casts over at Robert as he finds a coat and then hovers around looking a little bit awkward. And it does take time, but he's barely eaten and he hasn't slept and he's still not really in his head, so Sherlock waits patiently.
His own smile brightens slightly at the eye roll. Robert really is a wonderful creature, and he is a little reluctant to take him to the church yard because he's really rather sure that he's about to reunite the young man with his other half and then goodness knows what the two of them will get up to.
John would call this a bromance. And it's a bittersweet end to Sherlock's first. But still.
