Steve had woken up as Peggy moved in the bed but kept still and quiet, curious as to what was going on. He could tell Bucky was there and still wasn't quite sure how he wanted to feel. He knew what it was like to have no control over himself but at the same time, what Bucky had done brought back many of his own doubts and insecurities. Nothing like this had ever happened between the two of them. He wanted to forgive but it was hard when every time he looked at his best friend, his husband, he worried that he wasn't the one he really wanted or that he was interchangeable.
He rolled over gently and rest his head against Peggy's other thigh, sleepy, sad eyes just watching Bucky for a few moments. "Why him?" he asked quietly, voice soft, almost weak-all Steve with none of his Captain confidence or command. The question had been there since he'd found out but he hadn't asked yet. Not sure if he was just afraid of the answer or didn't want to think about it or didn't think he'd get an answer or a little bit of all of them.
