Peggy sighed internally at his reaction. Part of her expected and wanted him to fight for her, but she could see that he just didn't have it in him. Perhaps she'd been kidding herself that he saw her as anything other than a woman to give him a child, given his actions and reactions. He just accepted it all so easily.
"I don't want you to move out, Bucky. This is your home, your children are here. I won't deprive them of that because of a mistake. That's the one thing I don't doubt is how much you love them." She took a breath as she tried not to think about it. "But I really think this is it for us," she said, slipping one of her rings from her finger. I think that deep down, all you want is Steve and that I was just there. It's too easy for you to forget this, to forget that I'm not going to be betrayed and just forgive you because it wasn't entirely your fault. I won't allow myself to spend forever wondering when it'll happen again and what will cause it next time. It's better that we're just friends."
