All the damn baby had done on and off all day was cry her eyes out. Sook had no idea why Elli was bawling her eyes out and had tried everything to calm her down, ranging from bottles of milk, singing lullabys, helping her mind block the thoughts, winding, changing, play time, nap time. Nothing at all had worked. Finally at the end of her tether, a frustrated and exhausted Sook put the baby in her stroller to try a walk.
Within a couple hours of pushing her and bouncing her down, Elli had finally, blessedly fallen asleep. Sook, exhausted and stressed, decided the last place she wanted to see was home and couldn't resist the lure of the pub. Her mental shields were way down and she could hear familiar voices and thoughts coming from inside anyway. She really didn't care if she offended people by hearing them when she was so stressed out that she felt like screaming.
Leaving the baby to sleep in her stroller, Sook pulled a white blanket over the hood of the thing and slumped down in the nearest booth, putting her head on her hands.
