Ernest hadn't expected his little story to amuse her that much, but he was glad that it did and things were lighter and happier again, rather than staying stuck in the past. He laughed with her mostly because it was so contagious. She and Charlie both really let it all go when they laughed properly, and it was adorable.
"Oh, yeah, he can. It's so... my Jack was only sixteen, but he really was a best buddy, you know? I don't recognise a lot of him in... that's horrible to say, but they've just had such different lives," he commented. He bit into his lower lip in a failed attempt at hiding his grin at knowing Charlie adored him. "Of course I want him to have a good relationship with Clint. But you know. I can't help it, I just love getting those big smiles out of him," he admitted happily.
His fingers masssaged at her scalp, taking his sweet time about it to let her just relax and enjoy it. "Ah, sometimes. Gotta try to balance things out from being kind of a dick sometimes," he teased her with her own descriptor.
